Canadorama

April 29, 2013 by Phil Kneen Photography

All Images made with a Holga 120 Pano 6x12cm camera and Fuji Acros 100 film in the Hamilton (Ontario) and Yellowknife (NWT) areas of Canada. I wasn’t going to take this camera with me, but I’m so glad I did now. The scenery, the weather, everything lent itself to grungy monochromatic images like these. It’s got me thinking about experimenting with a bit of pinhole photography… I’m starting the long process of scanning and cataloguing 70+ sheets of negatives from my […]

Canadian Wide-Boy

April 27, 2013 by Phil Kneen Photography

A big package arrived this morning, just as I was tucking into a bowl of corn flakes, it was my Canada project films back from the processors. I was too excited to wait and while I held each sheet of negatives up to the living-room window my corn flakes went soggy. I’m not going to start scanning the actual ‘serious’ images, the ones shot on 6x7cm film, until Monday, but here a few shots I made on the Holga 120 Pano 6x12cm camera. Film […]

Home again.

April 18, 2013 by Phil Kneen Photography

All the images here were shot on a Canon G15 digital compact camera (which I picked-up in Toronto for CAN$399. The cheapest UK price I can find is £429, so I’m thinking I got a bit of a bargain) I’m actually quite liking this little camera… So, that’s another shoot over. Two and a half weeks and 79 rolls of film later, I’m back home, the films have been sent off to be developed at Peak Imaging and I’m recovering […]

The Yellowknife Diaries.

October 8, 2012 by Phil Kneen Photography

For most of September, while I was shooting the ‘Life on the ‘Knife’s Edge’ photo-essay, I kept a diary, for the first few days I was extremely strict about updating this journal on a twice daily basis. By the middle of the trip it was down to once a day and toward the end of the final few days I was relying on Trevor, every couple of days, to supply me with a running-order of events so that I could […]

Home again, home again…

September 27, 2012 by Phil Kneen Photography

I didn’t go to Canada to shoot landscapes, my project is documentary based, but when in Rome… I took a Canon EOS 5D mkII to The North West Territories of Canada with me. I shot the entire project on film, but I took the Canon, filled with good intentions of getting loads of video footage. That never happened, I was just to busy. I did manage to get a few shots of the Aurora Borealis though, 8 shots to be […]
