Roseena

October 1, 2019 by Phil Kneen Photography

I recently had the pleasure of photographing a fantastic model from the west coast of Ireland, Roseena McNair, who was visiting the Isle of Man for a couple of days. Roseena has a beautiful natural look and wore no makeup at all. I’ve done no skin retouching, whatsoever. I see the work of photographers whose models have the appearance of having been dipped in wax; they have a kind of Madame Tussaud’s look to them. When confronted, they’ll insist that […]

Jessica

August 29, 2016 by Phil Kneen Photography

In the 15 years since Jessica was born, I must have taken thousands of photographs of her; she’s now at the point where, most of the time, she doesn’t know, or care, that I’m taking her picture. When my daughter is aware, I’m photographing her, such as here, she has the most amazing sultry, ‘resting bitch face’ look; she can even raise one eyebrow when provoked, just like her Mum. This shoot was actually ‘commissioned’ by Jessica herself. Makeup and […]

Lip Gloss

November 12, 2014 by Phil Kneen Photography

Whenever I’m working with make-up artists, no matter what the model looks like, I always say the same thing when they ask my what look I want – “Keep it natural” is my stock answer. I’m not a fan of overly made-up women in everyday life, so I tend to prefer, given the choice, natural looking when I’m photographing them. If I’m photographing a beautiful woman on a windswept beach on the Isle of Man I don’t want her looking […]

Jo

October 10, 2014 by Phil Kneen Photography

We did a very enjoyable shoot last Saturday with this gorgeous lady, Jo Banks. As well as looking stunning, Jo turned-out to be a dream client – she just said, “I just want some great shots, I’ll leave it all up to you” – music to my ears! We did the entire session in a £3.5 million house overlooking Laxey bay on the Isle of Man, the light was perfect, with the white walls inside it bounced everywhere. Make-up artist […]

Instant Success

January 21, 2014 by Phil Kneen Photography

I’m a naturally impatient person, so from the outset I always imagined that digital photography would be my ideal medium, but that hasn’t really been the case. For the last few years digital photography has been an itch that I’ve never quite been able to scratch, there’s always lacked the sense of total satisfaction that I only ever get when I shoot film. At the moment I’m very itchy, and there’s only one thing that can get up the back […]
