The things I saw #3

February 13, 2015 by Phil Kneen Photography

“If you were the last person on the planet, would you still take photographs?” – a musician turned that question on me after I’d asked the same question about her music, she said she wouldn’t, “what would be the point in playing music if there was nobody else to listen to it?” – well I had to disagree, I would continue to take photographs, because without sounding vain and conceited, I like looking at my own photographs. Yes, I love […]

The things I saw #2

February 12, 2015 by Phil Kneen Photography

So, here’s a few more snapshots from my visual notebook, all taken in Spain during January, in no particular order. All shots were made using an Olympus MjuII 35mm compact and Agfa Vista 200 film. The only slight downside with shooting film is that there’s no metadata built-in to a negative to show where and when the image was taken or what settings were used, not that that’s important, but I’m not one for taking shot notes, so these images […]

Liverpool L8

September 29, 2014 by Phil Kneen Photography

“I’m being slowing drawn back into the seedy underbelly that is live music photography…” This weekend I’ve been in Liverpool, combining business with pleasure. My original plan was to just hang-out, see friends and visit pubs, but on Friday night I ended-up in Psych Fest, an annual music festival held down on the dock road near the now closed Cains brewery. I only photographed one band, and that was JIBÓIA (below) who I think are from Portugal, wherever they’re from […]

“My time,my creation”

May 31, 2012 by Phil Kneen Photography

I found these two shots on the end of a roll of film that I was scanning, I’d completely forgotten about them. When I first met Scott, a couple of years ago, he asked me what I liked doing, I told him I liked taking photos. Scott replied, “That’s good, you’re a visionary…it’s good to be a visionary”. I only spent a relatively short amount of time around Scott, but in that time I did learn a lot from him […]

Beltane Portraits.

May 20, 2012 by Phil Kneen Photography

In keeping with the natural style of this event, I shot all the portraits on 6×4.5cm film (also because I hate digital at the moment) I used a Mamiya 645 Pro tl. Colour – Kodak Portra 400 and Fuji Pro 400H. Black and white – Kodak Tri-X 400 Helen, my wife, was very clear, very precise with her instructions – “Drive the camper up first thing Friday, get us a good spot, save the Campbell’s a good spot and then […]
