If you could go back in time, just for a few days, and photograph something, when and where would it be? Mine would be a pretty cheap ride in the time machine, because I’d like a long weekend in 1970’s West Coast United States of America. I could have done it the first time round, technically, being born in 1969, but I don’t think I had the skills when I was five…
I love the whole 70’s California look, the music…and the women! But I live 5000 miles away and 40 years too late to capture it. A caravan just north of Ramsey had to do.
The early 70’s were pretty awesome. Even in Hawaii where I grew up. Such a wonderful free time.

I’m old enough to have gone through the 70s. I first travelled overseas in 1975 and then again in 1976, 1978 & 1979 and I can assure you it was a great era. I spent 1978/9 in London and my English boyfriend was a roadie in a rock band. London in the 70s was amazing (and so cheap to travel then). Not only did I see many wonderful Rockers singing live, but I saw Rudolph Nureyev dance (greatest male ballet dancer of his time). Yes, we did everything back then, and now, almost 60, I still say it was the best time of my life.
Lovely photos above, especially the first one.

Unfortunately, mostly circumstances are stronger than us. I spent my best years in the non existent country anymore. Behind the Wall we missed a lot. We’ve been happy anyway because of young age, but we could not come somewhere, we could not even listen music, read books, watch movies from outside of the Wall. We’ve been hungry with everything and happy to get a tiny piece of what the rest of the World had, if we had a chance. This is the difference between us – you could not come to California because of age and I could not come because of the Wall. Thanks God there is no Wall anymore, at least in Europe. Pictures are great.
